Jon Eugene Alterman

Jon Eugene Alterman was born on Thursday, July 6, 1939, in Illinois. He was the son of Albert and Frances (Byers) Alterman. A lifelong Franklin County, Kansas resident, Jon made his home in Ottawa until his death on Wednesday, February 7, 2007, at the age of sixty-seven years. Jon was owner and operator of Alterman Drywall of Ottawa from the 1960's to his retirement. He was a member of Ottawa Community Church in Ottawa. Jon loved the outdoors. He enjoyed his travels in his R.V. and fishing excursions. He was an expert in mechanics and was always ready to lend a hand to others. Most of all, Jon enjoyed their family gatherings and reminiscing about the 'good old days'. On June 6, 1963, Jon was united in marriage with Linda Croney. They later divorced. Jon is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Jason and Lorena Alterman of Peace Valley, Missouri, Kelly and Brandi Alterman of West Plains, Missouri, Eddie and Megan Alterman of Ottawa, Kansas; two daughters and sons-in-law, Cynthia and Jerry Silva of Ottawa, Kansas, Stephanie and Kurt Eckenroed of Pomona, Kansas; and ten grandchildren. Mr. Alterman is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Alan Alterman; sister, Marilyn Alterman; and infant granddaughter, Ariana Marie Silva. SERVICES: Funeral services will be held from the Dengel & Son Mortuary, 10:00 a.m., Saturday, February 10, 2007. IN STATE: Mr. Alterman will lie in state at the Dengel & Son Mortuary after 5 p.m. Thursday to the service hour, where the family will meet with friends from 7 to 8 Friday evening.
