Jon Alan Lofgreen

January 15, 1946 — June 19, 2020

Jon Alan Lofgreen departed this life to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, June 19, 2020 at home in Blue Springs, MO. Born in Ottawa, KS on January 15, 1946 to mother, Jean (Wrench) Lofgreen, and father, DeWayne Lofgreen. Jon grew up on a working farm west of Ottawa. He attended Ottawa schools, including Eugene Field Elementary School, and completed his sophomore year at Ottawa High School, at which time he transferred to Kemper Military School in Boonville, MO, graduating in 1964. Jon then moved to Wichita, KS where he attended Wichita State University and began working for Advance Products, a technology manufacturing company, when the original owners and founders, Bill and Dick DeVore, were actively operating the company. The DeVores recognized Jon's talents and capabilities and steadily promoted him until Jon eventually managed the entire facility. Jon constantly developed and implemented innovative systems and avenues of profitability, which greatly benefited the company. He remained actively working with the core company for 47 years until his retirement in 2012. By then, the company had changed ownership and its names several times and expanded to different geographic locations, where Jon's innovative systems continued to be implemented successfully. Jon and Linda loved to travel and to be in the great outdoors, especially the RV trips to the majestic Colorado Rockies to go trout fishing and hiking in the fresh mountain air. Fall was their favorite time of year because the colors of the Colorado Aspens were so brilliant and breathtaking. Jon taught several of his grandchildren how to fish the Colorado rivers for rainbow trout, which delighted him. They moved to Blue Springs, MO in 2017 to be near family. Jon was so happy to discover the Burr Oak Woods Conservation Park and Nature Preserve there. He really enjoyed hiking on the various trails within the Park -- walking about 4 miles each time, five days a week, twelve months out of the year. He appreciated the splendor and inspiration of the Preserve until the shutdown due to the Covid-19 Pandemic in mid-March 2020. Jon is survived by Linda, his devoted wife of 41 years; his sister, Deanna Lofgreen Ponting; his brother, David Lofgreen (Jeri Lyn), Las Vegas NV; sons Derek Lofgreen (Angie) and Steve Rovenstine (Sharon); daughter, Kristen Turner; cherished grandchildren, as well as extended family and friends. He is also survived by his beloved pets, "Bailey" and "Cooper." Jon is pre-deceased by his mother, father, and grandparents (Dr. Sylva Lofgreen and Dr. Victor Lofgreen, longtime physicians in Ottawa and surrounding area). Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 27, between 10:00 am and noon at Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S. Hickory, Ottawa, KS, and proceed to Highland Cemetery for a graveside service at 12:30 pm. All activities will follow Covid-19 guidelines. May you rest in peace, Jon, after your courageous battle with cancer. You are in our hearts always and forever... until we meet again. The family suggest memorial contributions to the Burr Oak Woods Conservation Park and Nature Preserve, c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S. Hickory, Ottawa, KS 66067 or send cards of sympathy to the mortuary.
