John S. Sellers, 78, of Spring Hill, Kansas, passed away Tuesday, June 14, 2016, at Olathe Medical Center. Memorial services will be held at 7:00 P.M., Friday, June 17, 2016, at Dengel & Son Mortuary. Inurnment Union Cemetery, Centropolis, Kansas. John was born Thursday, December 9, 1937, in Princeton, Kansas, the son of Narva and Emma (Sassaman) Sellers. He lived in Lenexa for eleven years, moving to Spring Hill where he made his home until his death. John served in the United States Navy from 1955 to 1958. John was united in marriage with Patricia Gebhard May 31, 1959, in Ottawa. She survives of the home. Other survivors include his three children, Sue White and husband Dwayne of Seligman, Missouri, Ted Sellers of Spring Hill, and Kay Williams and husband Tim of Basehor; eight grandchildren, Chrystal Boyd, Rebecca Boyd, Vanessa Sellers, Chantal Williams, Emily Williams, Dustin Williams, Gabrielle Williams, and T.J. Williams; and seven great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Gerald Sellers; and three sisters, Shirley Bowling, Carol Mille, and Eleanor Barlow. John was employed as an air traffic controller with the Federal Aviation Administration in Olathe, for 22 years. He worked as a clerk with the Department of Agriculture in Kansas City, Missouri, from 1983 to 1989. He was a member of the Lutheran Church and the American Legion Post 19, both of Gardner. John was a family man who loved getting together for family gatherings and doing things with his grandchildren. He was an avid KU fan and an outdoorsman who enjoyed mowing, planting flowers, golfing, fishing, hunting, and camping.
