John N. Wilkerson, 89, of Pomona, Kansas, passed away Wednesday, October 27, 2021, at Rock Creek of Ottawa. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, November 3, 2021, at Dengel & Son Mortuary, Ottawa. Family will meet with friends from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., Tuesday, November 2, 2021, at the mortuary. Interment Highland Cemetery, Ottawa. John was born June 20, 1932, in Ottawa, Kansas, the son of William Henry and Effie Speedie (Heidner) Wilkerson. He grew up in Ottawa, moving in 1949 to Pomona. He attended Mud Creek one-room schoolhouse and Williamsburg High School. On September 21, 1963, John was united in marriage to Carolyn M. McIntosh at Kansas City, Kansas. She survives of the home. He was a lifelong farmer also employed in the late 1960’s at Bendix King. John helped build the levy system in Ottawa and worked at Woodlawn Cemetery from the mid 1980’s to 2004. John attended Richter United Methodist Church and was a life member of the Franklin County Historical Society. He liked drinking coffee with his friends, especially at McDonalds. John enjoyed watching and listening to all the local sports teams and loved the time he spent with his family and grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, son Exie Morgan, and brother and sister-in-law, Max and Eva Wilkerson. Other survivors include four children, Cathy (Doug) Booton of Pomona, Paula (Don) Morgan also of Pomona, Mary (Lloyd) Wilkerson of Lyndon, and Victor (Melanie) Wilkerson of Ottawa; fourteen grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, and a great-great-granddaughter. The family suggests memorial contributions to Richter United Methodist Church c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S. Hickory, Ottawa, Kansas 66067.
