John Joseph Kruzel was born on Thursday, August 20, 1914, in New Berry, Michigan. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Kruzel. John was a lifelong resident of Youngstown, Ohio. Following his wife's death, he moved to Ottawa, in Franklin County, Kansas, where he made his home with his son and daughter-in-law, John and Dee Ellen, until his death on Wednesday, February 21, 2007, at the age of ninety-two years. John graduated from Holy Name School and attended Chaney High School, both in Youngstown, Ohio. He was employed as a steel worker for United States Steel, Carnegie Plant, in Youngstown, Ohio, forty-two years. He retired in 1978. He was a long-time member of Holy Name Catholic Church in Youngstown, Ohio and Sacred Heart Church in Ottawa. He was an active member of the Ottawa Senior Center, where he greatly enjoyed visiting with his many friends. He also enjoyed driving his 1931 Model A Roadster to the Center and in local parades. He looked forward to, and participating in, the Ol'Marais River Run car shows. On August 31, 1940, John was united in marriage with Anna M. Kohan at Holy Name Church in Youngstown, Ohio. They shared almost sixty years of marriage. She preceded him in death on March 10, 2000. His parents and one brother, Mike Kruzel of Youngstown, Ohio, also preceded him in death. Mr. Kruzel is survived by his two brothers, Danny Krazel of Melbourne, Florida, and Eddie Krazel of Port Orchard, Washington; his two sons, John M. Kruzel and his wife, Dee Ellen, of Ottawa, and Robert J. Kruzel of Rochester Hills, Michigan; eight grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren. SERVICES: A private family service will be held at Sacred Heart Church in Ottawa at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, February 26, 2007. CEMETERY: Resurrection Cemetery in Youngstown, Ohio, with his wife.
