John J. Jack Kreusch, age 78, of Ottawa, Kansas, died Saturday, July 3, 2010, at Olathe Medical Center in Olathe, Kansas. He was born on Thursday, September 17, 1931, in Ottawa, Kansas. He was the son of Frank and Edna B. (Higgins) Kreusch. He was a resident of Ottawa since 1969, moving from Pomona, Kansas. He lived in the Homewood and Greenwood areas as a child. He was a truck driver for Willis Nursery of Ottawa in 1948 and 1950; foreman for Jack Wilson Farms in the mid 1950’s through the 1960’s; owned and operated Jack’s Sinclair Station on South Main in Ottawa in the early 1970’s; delivered the Topeka Capital Journal in Ottawa from 1969 to 1982; was a truck driver for Bennett’s Ice Cream in Ottawa from the early 1970’s until 1993; worked for Underwood Equipment in Ottawa as a shop foreman in the early 1970’s and later in the 1990’s as a mechanic; drove a truck for Wise Trucking in Gardner, Kansas from early to mid 2000’s; and worked for Orscheln Farm & Home of Ottawa in the small engine repair and saw shop from 2006 to January of this year. Jack served in the United States Air Force from January 3, 1951 to December 7, 1954, with his tour of duty including Guam. He was a member of the Ottawa Promenader’s Square Dance Club. On Saturday, January 19, 1957, Jack was united in marriage with Louise Lyman in Ottawa, Kansas. She preceded him in death on February 9, 2003. He is survived by his: Son-Roger D. Kreusch and his wife, Diana, of Quenemo, Kansas; Daughter-Jean Thompson and her husband, Terry, of Ottawa, Kansas; Stepson-Pete Martin and his wife, Wynn, of Kansas City, Kansas; Stepdaughter-Carolyn Cramer of Pomona, Kansas; stepdaughter-Pearl Martin of Pomona, Kansas;Sister-Kathryn Sheler of Ottawa, Kansas; Sister-in-law-Norma Jean Denniston and her husband, Keith, of New Castle, California; Nine-Grandchildren and many Gt. Grandchildren.. He is preceded in death by his: Wife-Louise (Lyman) Kreusch; Father-Frank Kreusch; Mother-Edna B. (Higgins) Kreusch and a Brother-Raymond Kreusch. SERVICES: Graveside services will be held at Highland Cemetery in Ottawa at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, July 9, 2010. IN STATE: Mr. Kreusch will lie in state at the Dengel & Son Mortuary after 9:00 a.m. Thursday, where the family will meet with friends from 7:00 to 8:00 Thursday evening.
