John N. Hanover, age 74, of Paola, Kansas passed away Monday, September 9, 2013 at his home. John was born on November 3, 1938 to Ross and Margaret Hanover in Kansas City, Missouri. He graduated from Center High School, Kansas City, Kansas in 1957. As a youth he worked at Saint Mary"s Hospital as lead dishwasher operator. John joined the U. S. Navy in 1957 and served on the USS Shangri-La Aircraft Carrier. He was honorably discharged in 1960 and received an Expeditionary Service Award Medal. Following the service he worked for Benson"s Inc., Kansas City, MO, Caler"s Foods, Othello, WA, and then owned J & H Construction, Moses Lake, Washington. He retired in 1995. John was preceded in death by his parents and his daughter Laurie Marie Hanover. He is survived by his daughter Candi Miller (Willey) of Paola, KS; son Kenneth Turner (Laurie) of Spring Hill, KS; grandsons John Courtney of Paola, KS, Justin Curts of Gardner, KS, Kyle Miller of Paola, KS, and Garrett Turner of Spring Hill, KS; and great grandchildren Matthew Courtney and Jasmine Courtney of Olathe, KS.
