John H. Knapp

John H. Knapp, 86, of Bucyrus, KS died June 12, 2012 at his home. He was born June 24, 1925 in Kansas City, Mo, the son of Frank and Lillian (Huffman) Knapp. He was united in marriage to Dorothy J. Brummel on June 17, 1946 in Kansas City, MO. John served his country in the United States Marine Corps during WWII. He worked for A & P Groceries for 25 years. He then worked for Queen of the Holy Rosary, Overland Park, for 14 years, in charge of all maintenance before retiring. He loved gardening, playing cards with his siblings and traveling. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, enjoying every minute he spent with his family. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy J, Knapp, one son, Richard J. Knapp, one brother, Francis Knapp. He was also preceded in death by one grandson, Sgt. Michael Knapp, who died May 18, 2012, while serving his country. Survivors include two sons, John H. Knapp, Jr. and wife Betty, Overland Park, KS; William M. Knapp and wife Katherine, Spring Hill, KS; one daughter, Linda M. Forbes and husband Richard, Overland Park, KS; sister-In-law, Sandra Knapp, Overland Park, KS; two sisters, Mary Ann Borchardt, Pittsburg, KS. and Lillian Inman, Columbia, MO; 9 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and friends. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to the American Cancer Society.
