John H. “Jack” Udelhofen, 74, of Ottawa, passed away Sunday, January 12, 2020, at the Olathe Health Hospice House. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 A.M., Thursday, January 16, 2020, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. The Rosary will be held at 6:30 P.M., Wednesday, January 15, 2020, at Dengel & Son Mortuary, followed by a visitation for family and friends from 7:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Interment St. Boniface Cemetery, Scipio, Kansas with military honors by Fort Riley Honor Guard. Jack was born May 29, 1945, in Cuba City, Wisconsin, the son of John C. and Helen G. (Ula) Udelhofen. He lived in Monroe, Wisconsin for many years moving in 1976 to Ottawa. Jack served in the United States Army from 1966 to 1968 in Vietnam as a mechanic. Jack was united in marriage to Arlene Mersman July 23, 1977 at St. Boniface Church, Scipio, Kansas. She survives of the home. Other survivors include six siblings, Dottie Humphrey of River Falls, Wisconsin, Bea Olsen and husband Fred of Coon Rapids, Minnesota, Howard Kammerud and wife Faye of Janesville, Wisconsin, Jim Hendrickson and wife Carol of Roscoe, Illinois, Margaret Ebneter of Columbus, Nebraska and Dottie Emery of Olathe, Kansas. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Helen Udelhofen; and six siblings, Larry Kammerud, Don Kammerud, Elaine Weier, Otis Kammerud, Shel Kammerud and Mary Udelhofen. Jack was employed as a plant mechanic with Oaktron Manufacturing and later as an auto mechanic with Dearth Motors both of Monroe, Wisconsin. He was a warehouse foreman at Parmelee Industries in Ottawa from the mid-1970s to the early 1990s and later Trend Plastics in Olathe from the mid-1990s to the mid-2000s. Jack later drove the transportation bus for the Ottawa Senior Center. He was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Jack was a cat lover early in life and enjoyed spending time with his family. He loved the car show, scanners and C.B. radios, NASCAR and stock car racing, and traveling to Branson, Missouri.
