John F. French, age 82, of Osawatomie, Kansas, passed away Sunday, April 21, 2019 at Pioneer Ridge Rehabilitation Center, Lawrence, Kansas. John was born April 6, 1937 at Brentwood, California. He was the oldest of three sons born to John and Georgia (Baker) French. He grew up in Eufala, Oklahoma and graduated from Eufala High School with the Class of 1955. He attended college at Oklahoma University, Norman, Oklahoma and then went to Wichita State University, Wichita, Kansas. John was united in marriage to Rose Townsell on August 25, 1958 at Wichita, Kansas. They became the parents of three daughters Denise, Cheryl, and George. Their marriage ended in divorce. In 1974, John moved his family to Osawatomie where he bought out Waggoner Insurance renaming it Waggoner and French Insurance Company. John was a member of the Osawatomie Elks Club. Everyone who knew John was aware that his favorite pastime was fishing. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers Hoil and Floyd. He is survived by his daughters Denise French of San Francisco, CA, Cheryl Bolz (Ron) of Lawrence, KS, George Mobley of Las Vegas, Nevada; three grandchildren Johnna Argetsinger (Andrew), Cara Bolz, and Conner Bolz; one great grandson Finley Argetsinger with another great grandchild that is due in July; many other relatives and friends. John's daughters are following his wishes of being cremated and no services.
