John E. Lee, age 71, of Richmond, Kansas, died Friday, April 29, 2011, at Richmond Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center in Richmond, Kansas. He was born on Monday, November 6, 1939, in Nevada, Missouri, the son of Willard and Margaret (Riley) Lee. He was a lifelong resident of the Richmond area. John graduated from Lane High School with the class of 1957. He was a lifelong farmer. He also worked as a cloth cutter for H. D. Lee Company in Ottawa for thirty years. He was a member of Jehovah’s Witness Kingdom Hall in Ottawa; American Quarter Horse Association; and former 4-H leader. In December of 1960, John was united in marriage with Mollie Schmoe. They were later divorced. He isurvived by his: Daughter-Barbara New of Richmond, Kansas; Son-Chesley Lee and his wife, Mary Jane, of Richmond, Kansas; Son-Edward Lee and his wife, Sherry, of Ottawa, Kansas; Son-John Lee and his wife, Lora, of Richmond, Kansas; Son-Mark Lee and his wife, Tanya, of Richmond, Kansas; Brother-James A. Lee and his wife, Carol, of Fontana, Kansas; Brother-George A. Lee and his wife, Becky, of Castle Rock, Colorado; Brother-Samuel W. Lee and his wife, Barbara, of Garnett, Kansas; Fifteen - Grandchildren Two - Gt.Grandchildren and Many Nieces & Nephews. He is preceded in death by his: Parents-Willard and Margaret Lee and a Sister-Willa Carol. SERVICES: Graveside Services will be held at Richmond Cemetery at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 3, 2011. IN STATE: Friends may pay their respects to Mr. Lee at the Dengel & Son Mortuary in Ottawa after 5:00 p.m. on Monday, where the family will meet with friends from 7:00 to 8:00 Monday evening. His casket will remain closed. CEMETERY: Richmond Cemetery in Richmond, Kansas. MEMORIALS: The family suggests memorial contributions to Down Syndrome Guild, c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S. Hickory, Ottawa, Kansas 66067.
