John L. Dillard age 55 of Osawatomie formally of Paola died April 17, 2008, at St. Lukes Hospital. His services are pending at Penwell-Gabel Paola Chapel. 913-294-2372. To leave condolences go to Penwell-Gabel.com John was born February 12, 1953, in Paola Kansas to Samuel Henry Jr. and Ethylene May Brown Dillard. He was raised in Paola and graduated from Paola High in 1971 and was on the State Championship Football Team. In the 70's, John worked for the Union Pacific Railroad and managed the Vickers Gas station. In the 80's he worked for the Osawatomie State Hospital and worked as a CNA in Miami, Johnson, Wyandotte County and for many years in private home health care. John also worked for the B-E Aerospace in Lenexa. He was a member of the North American Fishing Club. His hobbies were fishing, walking, and barbequing. He enjoyed family and friends and had a laugh that could be contagious. He was a very caring person and a good listener. John was preceded in death by his parents, ex-wife Deborah, brother, Douglas L, Dillard, brother, Arnold B. Dillard, brother Van Dillard, brother, Harold Dillard, sister, Beverly Lewis, grandson Jamil Miller. Survivors include his daughter Crystal and husband Ryan Munsell of Topeka; son, John L. Jr. and wife Jamie Dillard of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; son, Phillip A. Dillard of Lincoln Nebraska; 3 stepsons, Tyrone Haynes of Germany, Troy Haynes of Oklahoma City Oklahoma and Darrell Haynes of Oklahoma City, 12 grandchildren; sisters, Doris Bolton of Bonner Springs, Nina Mae White of Olathe, Lana Robinson of Olathe and Kathy D. Dillard of Olathe; brothers, Samuel H. Dillard III of K.C. MO, Paul B. Dillard of Osawatomie, Richard A. Dillard of Olathe, and Max Dillard of Olathe.
