John Dean Grother

John Dean Grother, 82, of Paola, passed away on November 23, 2023 at Miami County Medical Center.

John was born on March 18, 1941 to Walter and Elsie (Gerken) Grother in rural Miami County.

John was a farmer all of his life. He would raise cattle and grow crops. John started farming with his father and then later with his son, Steve. He was also a member of Army National Guard.

He was a graduate of Paola High School. John enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, and trapping.

On September 13, 1964, he married Sharon Grother (Moore). John and Sharon lived in Paola, Kansas.

He was a member of the American Legion, where he enjoyed helping with Bingo. John also enjoyed playing Texas Holdem. He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church.

John is survived by loving Spouse, Sharon, Son, Steve Grother, Daughter, Melissa Chadwick, Sister, Norma Peckman, Grandchildren, Emily Block, Makenzie Grother, Heidi Grother, Trent Fleming, Trevor Fleming, Tanner Mondry, Great-Grandchildren, Hudson Medlen, Payton Medlen, Paisley Medlen, Carter Fleming.

He was preceded in death by Father, Walter Fred Grother, Mother, Elsie Marie Grother, and Grandson, Christopher Burnett.

Visitation will be held on Monday, November 27, 2023, at 10:00 am at the Trinity Lutheran Church. Funeral Services will follow the visitation, starting at 11:00 am.
