John David Hileman

March 6, 1934 — July 28, 2012

John David Hileman, age 78, passed away July 28, 2012 at the Olathe Medical Center. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Tom Hileman Scholarship Fund 9 N. Brayman, Paola, KS 66071 David, as he was known by, was born March 6, 1934 in Topeka, Kansas to Keil and Nellie Davidson Hileman. He graduated from Cherryvale High School in 1951, lettering in every possible sport he could participate in. After high school he attended Kansas State University and played freshman basketball. David was inducted into the United States Army during the early 60"s and served 2 years while being stationed in Germany before receiving his honorable discharge. On November 11, 1959, he was united in marriage to Jo Anne Mathis. They spent their entire married life in Paola. He was an engineer for Taylor Forge Manufacturing Company, retiring in 1999. David was a member of the First Presbyterian Church where he served as a deacon and elder, and a member of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity. His hobbies were playing golf, cards, refinishing furniture, traveling to Texas and camping with family. He coached girls" softball and helped build the current softball field. He is preceded in death by his parents, and one son Tom in 1988. Survivors are his wife Jo Anne of the home, one daughter Beth and husband Chris Kalberg of Overland Park, KS, one brother Phil and wife Judy Hileman of DeSoto KS, and one grandson Michael Kalberg. Dave was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. First Presbyterian Church 110 E.
