John Boehm

John Boehm age 82 of Paola passed away January 7, 2016 at the home he was born in January 9, 1933 to Remi and Mayme Hauser Boehm. He was the youngest of seven children. He grew up in Paola and married his childhood sweetheart Lauretta Harris at Holy Trinity Catholic Church on October 30 1952. They became the parents of 10 children. He started out farming at an early age when he took over the family farm and also did farm equipment repairs for neighbors and friends. He also worked for Knecht Equip Co. Later he went to work for Union Gas as a truck driver for many years, then head mechanic and then on to manager until he retired. After his retirement he worked for Thoden Trucking and returned to his favorite hobby of farming. He was preceded in death by his parents and four sisters. Lauretta preceded him in death May 2012. Also preceding him were infant granddaughter Jessica Sanders in 2004 and grandson Tyler Russell in 2015. As a devout Catholic he always believed if you have God, Family and Friends everything will fall in place. He is survived by 5 daughters, Susie and Rick Shay of Paola, Cathy McMullan, of Paola, Barbara and Roy Wobker of Rantoul, Jane and Bill Sanders of Harrisonville, MO, and Amy and Thomas Horton of Seattle, WA; 5 sons, Larry Boehm (Mary), Chris and Cassandra Boehm, Jeff Boehm, Ed and Stacie Boehm, and Dave and Kindra Boehm all of Paola; 19 grandchildren; and 18 great grandchildren; one brother Charles Boehm and one sister Esther Herdman.
