Joan M. Perry, Ottawa, formerly of Colorado, passed away Sunday, March 12, 2017, at Vintage Park at Ottawa. Cremation is planned. Celebration of life service will be held at 3:00 P.M., Friday, March 17, 2017, at Vintage Park, 2250 S. Elm Street, Ottawa. Inurnment Fort Logan National Cemetery, Denver, Colorado, to be held at a later date. Joan was born in Olathe, Colorado, the daughter of Oliver and Frances (Meyer) McIntire. She grew up partially in Santa Anna, California, moving to Grand Junction, Colorado, where she graduated high school. She later moved to Sun Lakes, Arizona, and then to Ottawa, where she made her home until her death. She continued her education at Colorado Mesa University, formerly known as Mesa State College, taking courses in business. Joan was united in marriage to Clarence Newell Perry, Jr. He preceded her in death December 1, 2013, just short of their 70th wedding anniversary. She was also preceded in death by her son, Michael Perry; three brothers, Roderick, Robert and Duane McIntire; and sister, Virginia Hedges. Survivors include her daughter, Jackie Steelman and husband John of Ottawa; beloved daughter-in-law, Ronda Perry of Fort Collins, Colorado; five grandchildren, Bree Perry-Roon and husband Brian of Denver, Colorado, Kristen Perry-Merrow and husband Denny also of Denver, Cole Perry of Fort Collins, Colorado, Luke Steelman of Kansas City, Missouri, and Shane Steelman of Kansas City, Kansas; and two great-grandchildren, with one on the way. Joan was a devoted lifelong homemaker. While attending church in the various locations Joan lived throughout her life, she was always involved as a soloist and choir member. She was a member of the Knife & Fork Club and square dancing clubs. Joan’s hobbies and activities included painting, reading, and becoming an exercise addict. She loved traveling with her husband, taking a tour of the Holy Land, cruises, and dancing.
