Joan Keim, age 75, of Ottawa, Kansas, died Friday, March 29, 2013. She was born on Thursday, May 20, 1937, the daughter of Clair and Leta “Billie” (Eaton) Bayless. Joan attended school in rural Franklin County, Kansas and graduated from Ottawa High School with the class of 1955. She was a member of the Grace Episcopal Church. Joan worked as a legal secretary for the Franklin and Osage County Attorney’s Office, and Bezek, Lowry and Hendrix Law Office before retiring April 30, 2003. On November 12, 1976 Joan was united in marriage with Robert W. Keim. He survives of the home after nearly thirty-seven years. She was previously married to Arnold Dodd. They were later divorced. She enjoyed auctions, going to the casinos, family dinners and being at home. Surviving family members include three sons, Donald Dodd of Leavenworth; Ronald Dodd of Emporia; William Keim of Ottawa; and daughter, Diana Stafford of Topeka; two stepsons, David R. Keim of Florida; and Tony Keim and his wife Beth of Ottawa; stepdaughter, Cindy Johnson of Ottawa; two sisters, Joyce Kahler of Colorado; and Judy Rohrer of Topeka; 14 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and aunt, Bonnie Bayless. Preceding Joan in death are her parents, Clair and Billie Bayless; and grandparents. SERVICES: Cremation is planned. Graveside Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, April 4, 2013, at Highland Cemetery, Ottawa, Kansas.
