Joan Jean "Jo" Northway

Joan Jean “Jo” Northway, 93, of Ottawa passed away Thursday, March 11, 2021. She was born Tuesday, December 6, 1927 to Harry and Grace (Hume) Finch. Jo grew up on the family farm near Wellsville, attended Briles Grade School and graduated from Ottawa High School with the class of 1945. She had siblings Eldon, Mabel and Doris. Jo married Samuel James Northway June 25, 1946. They lived in San Bernardino, California for a number of years, returning home to Ottawa in 1962. They had two daughters, Jeanie and Judy. She worked as a secretary and office manager at both the First Baptist and First United Methodist churches in Ottawa for many years. Her husband died October 5, 2017. She is survived by her daughters and grandchildren, Liam, Luke (Sabrina) and Laura (Steve), three great grandchildren, Will, Sammy and Andy, nieces and nephews. No services are planned at this time. Interment Highland Cemetery, Ottawa. Memorials may be made to Prairie Paws Animal Shelter c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S. Hickory, Ottawa, Kansas 66067.
