Jimmy W. Martin, age 73, of rural Lane, Kansas, died Tuesday, July 23, 2013 at his home. Jimmy was born August 28, 1939 in Osawatomie, Kansas. He was the son of George and Gladys (Horn) Martin. Jimmy attended school in Osawatomie. He was united in marriage to Sharon McQuay on May 17, 1965 in Miami, Oklahoma. They became the parents of two daughters. He served his country with the United States Army. He was a paratrooper with the 101st Airborn Division. He worked for Kansas City Power and Light as a welder for 28 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Roy and Ray, and one sister Louise. He is survived by his wife Sharon of the home; two daughters Ronna Robertson of Lane and Jamie Stewart and her husband David of Paola; one sister Shirley Ray of Osawatomie; two grandsons Jimmy Stewart and Ryan Robertson; one great granddaughter Bentley Stewart; many other relatives and friends. Memorials are to the Princeton Christian Church and can be sent in care of Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home, 605 O'Neal Ave., P. O. Box 280, Osawatomie, KS, 66064.
