Jevene M. Holmes

Jevene M. Holmes, 83, of Ottawa, passed away Saturday, November 21, 2020, at AdventHealth of Ottawa. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, November 25, 2020 at Highland Cemetery, Ottawa, Kansas. She will lie in state at Dengel & Son Mortuary Tuesday, November 24, 2020 from 2:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M. and Wednesday, November 25, 2020 from 9:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. Jevene was born Thursday, November 11, 1937 in Clay Center, Kansas, the daughter of Orville and Ida (Lloyd) Beeson. She was a lifelong Ottawa resident. Jevene graduated from Ottawa High School with the class of 1955. She was united in marriage to Marvin L. Holmes December 24, 1955 at Ottawa, Kansas. He preceded her in death on October 3, 1983. Jevene worked for over 40 years at the Ottawa SRS retiring in 2001 as the office manager. She was a member of the Ottawa Women’s Bowling Association. Jevene was an Elvis fan, enjoyed traveling and especially loved being with her family. Jevene was preceded in death by her parents and husband, brother, Leonard Beeson and sister Orpha Frith. Survivors include her daughters, Marla (Rick) Burgoon, Deb (Jon) Stone and Jan Holmes all of Ottawa; grandchildren, Shane (Vicki) Robbins of Ottawa, Chad Burgoon of Overland Park, Tye Burgoon of Ottawa, Erin (Levi) Shumway of Overland Park and Anna Stone of Bozeman, MT; great grandchildren, Ethan Burgoon, Sophia Burgoon of Ottawa and Milo Shumway of Overland Park; sister-in-law, Karyn Douthat of Ottawa.
