Jesse Capps, Jr., 76, passed away Saturday, October 31, 2015, at his home in Garnett, Kansas. Friends will meet with family from 7:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., Thursday, November 5, 2015, at Dengel & Son Mortuary. Jesse was born Thursday, October 26, 1939, in Smithville, Oklahoma, the son of Herchel King and Nina Capps. He was formerly of Ottawa, Kansas, during the 1990s moving to Bourbon County. In the mid 2000s, Jesse moved to the Garnett/Greeley area. Jesse was united in marriage with Phyllis Foster October 9, 1963, in Miami, Oklahoma. She survives of their home. He is also survived by son, Randy Capps of Spring, Texas; daughters, Vayda Beshears and husband Doug of Garnett, Kansas, and Dana Capps of Ottawa; sisters, Leila Craig of Pleasant Hill, Missouri, and Jackie Green and husband Mark of St. Mary’s County, Maryland; brother, Harold Dinges and wife Peggy of Olathe, Kansas; four grandchildren, Jerry McKinley, Jesse McKinley, Caleb Karl Capps, and Alexis Jean Capps; and four great-grandchildren, Alania Jean McKinley, Paislee McKinley, Caiden McKinley, and Isabell McKinley. He was preceded in death by his parents; and sisters, Marie Johnson and Phyllis Porter. Jesse served in the United States Army. Jesse was a lifelong construction worker for various companies working residential, basement and foundations, retiring in 1992. He enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren, KU Basketball, and the KC Royals. He was an outdoorsman who also enjoyed boating and fishing.
