Jerry Eugene Hoyt was born July 8, 1944, at Prescott, Kansas. He was the son of Lester A. and Mary (Campbell) Hoyt. He lived in Lansing, Kansas, moving to the Pomona, Kansas area close to thirty-five years ago, where he made his home, until his death Tuesday, November 30, 2004, at the age of sixty years. Jerry graduated from Jarbalo High School, outside Tonganoxie, Kansas, with the class of 1962. He was a lifetime farmer and rancher. He also worked for Killough Construction of Ottawa, fifteen years. Jerry was an outdoorsman. He enjoyed working on the farm and raising cattle. Jerry's greatest enjoyment, however, was spending time with his family and friends. On November 7, 1964, Jerry was united in marriage with Mary Lou Filtingberger at Blue Mound, Kansas. She survives of their home. He is also survived by two sons, Scott Hoyt and his wife, Gale, of Ottawa, Kansas, Jeff Hoyt and his wife, Amanda, of Pomona, Kansas; daughter, Kelly Slavens and her husband, Marlowe, of Pomona, Kansas; two sisters, Delma Colegrove and her husband, Larry, of Paola, Kansas, Ethel Schell and her husband, Mike, of Olathe, Kansas; four brothers, Jack Hoyt and his wife, Carolyn, of Atlanta, Georgia, Doyle Hoyt and his wife, Donna, of Johnstown, Colorado, Darrell Hoyt and his wife, Connie, of Pomona, Kansas, Les Hoyt and his wife, Glenda, of Ottawa, Kansas; seven grandchildren, Rebecca, Joshua, Steven, Josey, Taylor, Kirsten, and Colton; and, several nieces and nephews. Mr. Hoyt is preceded in death by his parents. SERVICES: Memorial Services will be held from the Dengel & Son Mortuary, Ottawa, 10:00 a.m. Thursday, December 2, 2004. OFFICIATING CLERGY: Rev.
