Jerry Dee Milberger, 76, of Brookline Station, Missouri died Tuesday, November 5, 2019. Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, November 18, 2019 at Dengel & Son Mortuary, Ottawa. Burial to follow at Highland Cemetery, Ottawa. Jerry was born September 3, 1943 in Kansas City, Missouri, the son of Milton and Esther (Hammond) Milberger. He lived in the Springfield, Missouri area since 1995 moving from Olathe, Kansas where he had lived several years. He graduated from Southeast High School, Kansas City, Missouri with the class of 1961. Jerry served in the National Guard. Jerry was an exterminator working in the family’s business, Milberger’s Pest Control for many years. He later became the owner/operator of Milberger’s Overall Pest Control in Springfield, Missouri from 1995 to present. He was very quick witted and always loved spending time with his family. Jerry was affectionately called “Papa donut” by all the grandkids. He enjoyed fishing, camping and boating, was a talented leatherworks craftsman and a talented musician playing the guitar, harmonica, banjo, and dulcimer. He was a member of Alcoholics Anonymous and his family was so proud of his 38-year commitment to sobriety. Survivors include children, Mike Milberger and wife Anica of Shawnee, Kansas and Julie Gadwood and husband David also of Shawnee; step children, Alicia Deaton and husband Christopher of Smithville, Missouri, and Robert Wilbanks and wife Erika of Corsicana, Texas; nine grandchildren, Jacob, Nicholas and Carney Gadwood, Lilli and Nathan Milberger, Destinee and Brooke Deaton, Johnathan and Christopher Wilbanks; and two great grandchildren, Andie and Hayden. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Connie (Welton) Milberger; and brother, Louis Milberger. The family suggests memorial contributions to American Cancer Society c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S. Hickory, Ottawa, Kansas 66067.
