Jennifer Jo "Jj" Weaver

Jennifer Jo “JJ” Weaver, 51, of Chanute, Kansas, passed away Wednesday, February 8, 2023, at Neosho Regional Medical Center, Chanute, Kansas.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M., Friday, February 17, 2023, at Rock Creek Church of Christ, Ottawa. The family will meet friends from 1:00 to 2:00 P.M. prior to the service.

Interment Greenwood Cemetery, Pomona, Kansas.

Jennifer was born Saturday, September 11, 1971, in Colorado Springs, Colorado, the daughter of Albert and Lorraine (Nitcher) Reichard.

She lived in Pomona, Kansas moving to Garnett where she resided for fifteen years. In 2014, she moved to Chanute, Kansas where she made her home until her death.

She was united in marriage to Mark Weaver April 26, 1997, in Ottawa, Kansas. He survives of the home.

Jennifer attended Pomona High School, graduating with the class of 1990. She then attended Emporia State University receiving a bachelor's degree in literacy in 1996. Jennifer obtained three master’s degrees, the first being in special education.

She was in education for twenty-six years teaching at Pomona High School, Iola Elementary School, Emporia Middle School, Royster Middle School, Chanute High School, and West Elk High School. Jennifer was also employed by the Kansas City, Kansas district as a school psychologist.

Jennifer was a former member of the Rock Creek Church of Christ, Ottawa. She enjoyed working and connecting with kids. Jennifer especially enjoyed time spent with her family and grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father, Albert “Dusty” Reichard.

Survivors include husband Mark; mother, Lorraine; children, Shelby Weaver of Pittsburg, Kansas and Shawn Weaver of Chanute; brother Danny Reichard (Jenny) of Baldwin City, Kansas; and grandchildren, Greyson Dustyn Vandenberg, Emerson and Harlow Smith.
