Jay Seamands

Jay C. Seamands, age 60, passed away on January 7, 2012, at his home. Jay C. Seamands was born January 17, 1951 in Gardner, Kansas to Chester Ray Seamands and Ellen Grace (Herndon) Seamands. Jay served in the United States Army as a Seargant during the Vietnam War and was a member of the Paola VFW Post 3712. He has lived in Paola since 1986. He worked at Rimpull Corporation for 36 1/2 years as a welder. On October 11, 2002 Jay married Tammy Wenski. Jay enjoyed working with his hands and was always working on projects for his family and friends. He also enjoyed Nascar racing and going to family member"s sporting events. He was a simple man of very few words and was always willing to give a helping hand. Memorial contributions may be made to Paola VFW Post 3712. He is survived by his mother Ellen Seamands, Spring Hill, KS; wife Tammy Seamands, of the home; children David Seamands (1SG, Ret), Stafford, VA, Jason Seamands, Kansas City, MO, and Dustin Seamands, Paola, KS; step children Bryan Wenski, Osawaomie, KS and Eric Wenski, Paola, KS; sisters Reta Jo James, Wilmer, MN and Gwen Hoover, Olathe, KS; grandchildren Kyle Baughman, David Seamands II, Tyler Wenski, and Olivia Wenski. He is preceded in death by his father Chester Seamands and his sister Lola Myers.
