Janice K. Wheat

Janice K. Wheat, 83, of Rantoul, Kansas, passed away Sunday, May 19, 2024 at AdventHealth Ottawa, Ottawa, Kansas.

Memorial Visitation will be 5:00-7:00pm, Tuesday, May 28, 2024, at Dengel & Son Mortuary, Ottawa, Kansas.

Janice was born Wednesday, March 26, 1941, in Ottawa, Kansas, the daughter of Donald and Buela Maxine (Sweetwood) Griffin.

She lived most of her life in Ottawa, Kansas, graduating from Ottawa High School with the class of 1959.

Janice was a devoted mother and homemaker. She was a daycare provider for twenty-three years and also worked as a shift manager at Wendy’s for six years.

She was a member of the VFW Women’s Auxiliary. Janice enjoyed working in her yard taking care of her flowers. She especially loved her kids and enjoyed going shopping with them when they were little.

Janice was preceded in death by her parents; sons Brad Wheat and Kevin Wheat; daughter-in-law Pam Finch; and grandson Eric Finch.

Survivors include sons Don Finch (Teresa) and Chad Wheat (Nicki); daughters Teresa Brockert (CJ), Julie Hankins ‘Conner’ (Richard), and Andrea Layng ‘Wheat’ (Myron); honorary sister Sheryl Dunn; twenty-two grandchildren; many great grandchildren; and many great-great grandchildren.
