Janice Farmer, cherished wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Friday, October 25, 2024. Born in Kansas City, Missouri, on October 4, 1948, Janice lived a life filled with love, devotion, and a deep commitment to her family.

In July of 1965, Janice married Woody Farmer. From this union they built a family and Janice dedicated her life to caring for her home and her family, creating a warm and welcoming environment for all who entered her doors. Janice found joy in traveling, holiday baking, watching Hallmark movies, and dancing. She worked as an office clerk for Paola Electric shop where she retired in 2004. After retirement, Janice and Woody moved to their cabin at the Lake of the Ozarks before moving back to Paola to be closer to family.

Janice is survived by her husband of 59 years, Woody Farmer, daughters, Shelly Staum (Todd) of Paola, Kansas, and Kelly Voigts of Wellsville, Kansas, son, Woody Farmer (Jamie) of Paola, Kansas, and step-son, J.D. Fraser (Lona) of Louisburg, Kansas. Her legacy includes nine beloved grandchildren, RJ Trumbly (Jenny), Lora Trumbly, Janna Staum, Billy Butler (Jamie), Hayley Stone (Kevin), Derek Staum, Caleb Butler, Ted Voigts (Kayla), and Hanna Kemp (Jordan), 13 great grandchildren, Noah, Grant and Jordan Trumbly, Kyndall Christiano, Kayden and Urijah Ditch, Jade, Miles, and Remi Butler, Griffin and Layne Stone, Keverett Newberry, TJ and Storie Voigts. Each a testament to the love she poured into her family. Also surviving are her sisters, Judy Hartman (Chuck) and Juanita Long, and brother, Eric Beard (Wendy).

Janice is preceded in death by her parents, James and Dorothy Beard, sister, Joyce Winfree, and brother, James Beard.

A visitation will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, November 2, 2024, at Dengel & Son Mortuary – Paola Chapel, 305 N Pearl Street, Paola, Kansas 66071. Graveside service will follow at 12:00 pm, at the Paola Cemetery. The family invites friends and family to join them in celebrating Janice with a luncheon at the Paola Eagles following the graveside service.

In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made payable to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital in memory of Janice Farmer, c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary, 305 N Pearl Street, Paola, Kansas 66071.
