Janice E. Smith, age 70 of Louisburg, Kansas, died Saturday, October 9, 2010 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 12, 2010 at Penwell " Gabel Louisburg Chapel. Burial to follow in the Aubry Cemetery, Stilwell, Kansas Visitation will be 6:00 " 8:00 p.m. Monday at the chapel. Janice was born December 23, 1939, in Ottawa, Kan. to Loyd Pearson and Flora Sink Pearson. She graduated from Ottawa High School in 1957. Then married Claude "Bud" Smith, and they had three children, Greg, Jeffery, and Kevin. From Ottawa they moved to Kansas City, KS then to Stilwell, KS where they could raise their family in the country. Janice worked 15 years as an Elevator Operator for Federal Reserve Bank. She was a devoted Wife, Mother, and Grandmother, who always took care of her family. Janice enjoyed cooking, sewing, reading, and charity work. She used humor and a genuine heart in all she did. Often giving up things to be able to do for her loved ones. In 2006 they built a home in Louisburg, Kan where they were surrounded by loving family, neighbors, and friends. Janice passed peacefully in her home in the care of three incredible nurses; Linda, Lisa, and Ken. She was preceded in death by Husband, Bud, and a son, Jeffery. Survivors included sons, Greg (Laura), Kevin (Brenda); Grandchildren Heather (Chad), Danielle, and Taylor. As well as a dear friend Tina, a beloved Brother-in-Law Don, and many caring nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions to Odyssey Hospice.
