Jane Elaine (Rentz) Chronister passed away on Friday, October 4, 2024, at Olathe Medical Center surrounded by her loving family. Jane was born August 25, 1953, in Ottawa, KS to Arnold and Leona (Lohaus) Rentz. She was baptized into the Christian faith on September 20, 1953, at First Lutheran Church in Paola, KS, and confirmed her faith on May 14, 1967, at First Lutheran. She graduated from Paola High School in 1971, and married her life-long companion, Richard Chronister on October 7, 1972.
Jane’s most cherished vocation was being a stay at home mom while she and Rick raised their daughters, Brigette, Brenda and April. In addition to raising their daughters, she worked part-time for the family business, Larry’s Electric, for many years as the office manager and bookkeeper. Jane later served as secretary for First Lutheran Church, where she was a devoted member.
Jane and Rick enjoyed traveling. They traveled to 49 of 50 states together, including a trip to Alaska in 2019. Their favorite adventure was searching for Little Sisters of Liberty Statues around the country. Early in their marriage, they enjoyed traveling to classic car shows across the United States. In later years her pride and joy were her grandkids and babysitting for them. She thoroughly enjoyed gardening in her many flower beds and found weeding very therapeutic.
Jane was preceded in death by her daughter, Brenda Chronister; her parents, Arnold and Leona (Lohaus) Rentz; in-laws, Larry and Grace Chronister; and sister-in-law, Earlene Chronister.
Jane is survived by her husband, Rick of the home; two daughters, Brigette (Tim) McIntire of Paola, KS and April (Matt) Bysfield of Firestone, CO; three grandchildren, Mason, Keira, and Elijah; one brother, Dennis (Kim) Rentz of Paola, KS; one sister, Connie (Paul) Brand of Shawnee, KS; brother-in-laws, Terry Chronister of Independence, MO and Don Chronister of Spring Hill, KS; and sister-in-law, Carol (Fred) Schwarz, of Derby, KS.
