Jan Michael Faircloth

August 21, 1976 — March 8, 2020

Jan Michael Faircloth, age 43 of Olathe, Kansas, passed away on March 8, 2020. He was born on August 21st, 1976 in Fayetteville, North Carolina to Ron and Beverly Faircloth and was the first of two children. Jan married Jenny Leigh on November 30, 2007 in Kansas City. He is survived by his loving wife, Jenny and their son, Nelson, father, Ron (Lesla) Faircloth and sister, Carolina of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; his mother, Beverly Faircloth of Kansas City, KS; and sister, Ashley (DJ) Faircloth of Kansas City, Kansas. Jan Faircloth was an accomplished musician with countless tour stops around the world whose hard work and talent elevated him to center stage on the Blues scene of Kansas City. From there Jan forged friendships and earned the respect and admiration of fans and musicians from the California coast to Eastern Europe, and all points in between. Composing and sharing music, teaching students, and performing live shows brought him immeasurable joy. Even in his final moments when his blood pressure wasn’t measurable, he continued to maintain a perfect heart rhythm, just as would be expected from a drummer at heart. In addition to carrying a great beat all the way to the end, Jan loved his friends and family with a passion. His belly laugh and smiling eyes were legendary, as was the deep and unconditional love he had with his wife and soul-mate Jenny. When Jan spoke of Jenny, his eyes would light up. Their love was true, inspirational love, and out of that love came their beautiful son Nelson Henry Faircloth, now 6-years-old. Jan was always so proud of Nelson, who provided Jan with so much peace and happiness and comfort. UPDATE: In light of public health concerns, the very difficult decision has been made to postpone Jan Faircloth's memorial which was scheduled for this coming Sunday evening at Knucklhead's. The family would like to extend their most sincere gratitude for an overwhelming show of love and support during this difficult time. We will announce a rescheduled date in the coming weeks. Continue to be grateful, and take good care of yourselves and one another. - The Faircloth Family The family requests no flowers, Those who wish to make a donation in Jan’s memory may do so at www.blueskc.org/donate/ To share a memory of Jan or leave a special condolence message for his family, please click the Share A Memories Tab above.
