James Burton Walters, Jr. 91 of Rockville, In. passed away Sunday, Jan. 11, 2009, at Union Hospital, Terre Haute, In. Services will be held Thursday, Jan. 15, 2009 at 10:00 AM at Gooch"s Funeral Home, Rockville, In. Graveside services will be held Friday, January 16, 2009 in the Miami Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Paola, Ks. JB was born April 7, 1917 in Commerce, Oklahoma, the son of James Burton Walters, Sr. and Lela Ferguson Walters. On October 6, 1936 he was married to Helen Lucille Wiseman in Paola, Kansas who died in June, 1969. He married Florence Clark on May 25, 1972. He was retired from Panhandle Eastern Pipe Line Co. at Montezuma, Indiana, after 40 years of service. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II. After retirement he purchased a home in Florida besides their home in Indiana, and they spent the winter months in Florida and summer months in Rockville. He enjoyed traveling, working around his home and on his lawn and also kept busy doing a few craft projects. He is survived by his wife, Florence Clark of the home; two daughters, Linda (Kenneth) Dohrman of Mountain Home, Arkansas, and Deanna Sue (Jack)Wilson of North Pointe, Florida; and two stepsons, Bob (Shirley) Clark and Dane (Janice) Clark, both of Atlanta, Georgia; nine grandchildren(Jim Dohrman, Machelle Shirk, Scott Wilson, Mark Dohrman, Casey Walters, Wendy Vasquez, Kindra Rose and Alicia Bebout), four step grandchildren (Jason Clark, Morgan Clark, Alan Clark and Philip Clark), fifteen great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren, and a sister, Peggy Jenkins of Arizona. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife (Helen); three brothers (Carl, Don & Johnny Walters), a son (Robert Eugene Walters), and a grandson (Kirk Eugene Wilson). Burial will be at the Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Paola, Kansas with Jim Dohrman, Mark Dohrman, Casey Walters, Jim Vasquez, James Aaron Vasquez, and Lake Vasquez, as pallbearers. Arrangements in Rockville, Indiana are by Gooch"s Funeral Home; and in Paola, Kansas by Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home, 305 North Pearl. In Lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to the USD#368, PO Box 268, Paola, KS 66071, in Honor of J.B. Walters, 1935 Graduate, to the Kirk E. Wilson Science Scholarship Fund.
