James V. (Jim) McKinsey, age 79, Linn Valley, KS, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, December 30, 2010. Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 4, 2011 at the Outpost Cowboy Church 33565 Metcalf Road Louisburg, KS. 66053. Visitation will be held from 5:00 " 8:00 p.m. Monday at Penwell " Gabel Louisburg Chapel. Burial to follow in the Louisburg Cemetery with military honors. Jim was born November 19, 1931, in Neosho County, KS, the son of Raymond and Mary Garrison Mckinsey. He was a SGT (T) in the United States Army from 1952 to 1954 and served in the Korean War. Jim was awarded the Korean Service Medal with 2 Bronze Service Stars, United Nations Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Bronze Star Medal, Combat Infantry Badge, Good Conduct Medal and the purple heart. He joined the Kansas Highway Patrol in 1966 and retired in 1988. Jim married Janette in August, 1973 and they resided in Louisburg until moving to Linn Valley Lakes in 1988. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Edward McKinsey and Larry Dean McKinsey. He is survived by his wife, Janette McKinsey of the home; 2 sons, Ronald Vincent McKinsey and Duane McKinsey; 3 step children Robby Cunningham, Cynthia Knop and Todd Cunningham ; one sister Evelyn Grogan. 14 Grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. In Lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be given to Hospice Care of Kansas or to KU Heart Institute. Outpost Cowboy Church 33565 Metcalf Rd.
