James Smith-Dillard, 24, of Kansas City, Kansas, died April 1, 2012 after being hit by a car while crossing 470 Hwy near Raytown Rd, Kansas City, Missouri. James was born on August 30, 1987 to Lester Smith and Brenda Dillard in Kansas City, Kansas. He lived most of his life in Paola, Kansas before moving to Kansas City, Kansas five years ago. He worked as a painter, a home health care worker, and did maintenance at a print shop. James loved basketball and enjoyed playing video games, especially Xbox. James is survived by his mother Brenda Carson and stepfather Durand Carson of the home; father Lester Ervin Smith Jr. and stepmother Latonya Fleming of Olathe; grandmother Delores Smith; sisters Shanequea Rothschild, Dhanequea Carson, Brittany Berry, Leila Smith, and L'Karah Smith; brothers Jeremy Dillard, Ronelle Smith, Lester Ervin Smith III, and Willie Fleming; and a host of aunts, uncles and friends. He is preceded in death by his grandparents Mary Jane and Frank Dillard, and Lester Ervin Smith Sr. Serving as pallbearers are Rashawn Johnson, Patrick Woods, James Jr., Willie Fleming, Ron L. Smith, Mark Hanson, and Jade Mckinley. Honorary pallbearers are Sheldon Carson Jr., Mario Odom, Jeremy Dillard, and Durand Carson. The minister is Cecil Robinson and soloist is Justin Brown.
