James Burton Sexton, age 80, of rural Paola, Kansas, died June 28, 2014 at North Point Skilled Nursing in Paola. James was born February 3, 1934 at Abilene, Kansas. He was the youngest of five children born to Oscar Olen and Anna J. (Welch) Sexton. James graduated from Solomon High School with the Class of 1952. Alma Louise Rees and James were united in marriage on August 24, 1955 at Sidney, Montana. They made their home on a farm in Abilene and became the parents of three children. They lived in Maple Hill, Kansas for 11 years and moved to their farm at rural Paola in December of 2003. James was a farmer. He raised wheat and milo. He also raised hogs. In his spare time, he liked to read and tinker with mechanics. James was an all around handy man, quite the "fixer upper." He was always working on something. He was a member of the Victory Baptist Church in Osawatomie. James was preceded in death by his parents, one son Terry who died in 1982, one brother Dean who died in 1985, one sister Naomi Linder who died in 2011, and one granddaughter Jenna Botz who died in 1989. He is survived by his wife Alma of the home; his daughter Jeanette (Dennis) Botz of High Ridge, Missouri; his son Rodney Sexton of Paola; one brother Gene of Great Bend, Kansas; one sister Rosalie Wuthnow of Lee"s Summit, Missouri; 4 grandchildren Brent and Lindsay Botz, Brandon Botz, and Amber Sexton; one great grandson Bryce Botz; many other relatives and friends.
