James "Jim" Schwartz, age 86, of Bucyrus, Kansas, died Thursday, May 30, 2013 at the Kansas City Hospice House, Kansas City, Missouri. Jim was born May 11, 1927 at Bucyrus. He was the youngest child born to William Joseph and Anna Elizabeth (Seuferling) Schwartz. He grew up in Bucyrus and attended the Wea Holy Rosary Catholic school. Jim served his country with the United States Navy. He was united in marriage to Olive May Pentland on October 8, 1960 at Queen of the Holy Rosary Church in Wea. They made their home in Bucyrus and became the parents of six children. Jim was a dairy and crop farmer for most of his life. He had also worked for Hauer Turf for many years. Jim loved golfing and was a very good golfer. He was also a big sports fan, especially KU basketball and Kansas City Chiefs football. He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters Anna Mae Barry, Margaret Schwartz, Leona Martin, and Mary Elizabeth Verhaeghe, and one brother William Schwartz. He is survived by his wife Olive of the home; six children Debbie Kush of Louisburg, Kathy Shapiro and her husband Hal of Leawood, Kansas, Mike Schwartz of Bucyrus, June Boyd and her husband Todd of Stilwell, Kansas, Steve Schwartz of Louisburg, and David Schwartz of Stilwell; nine grandchildren Jason, Heather, Harrison, and Jessica Kush, Bailey Schwartz, Matthew and Abby Boyd, Nicole, and Lexi Shapiro; six great grandchildren Dillon, Devin, and Riley Haas, and Jackson, Ethan, and Noah Kush; many other relatives and friends. Memorial contributions can be made to the Kansas City Hospice House or Queen of the Holy Rosary Church.
