James Robert Stinebaugh, 70, of Williamsburg, Kansas, passed away Thursday, July 29, 2021, at Olathe Medical Center. Memorial services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, September 4, 2021, at the Homewood Community Bible Church, 1795 Idaho Road, Williamsburg, 66095. Family will meet with friends from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., Friday, September 3, 2021, at the church. Inurnment will be held later at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Williamsburg. James was born January 1, 1951, in Ottawa, Kansas, the son of James Scott and Dorothy Darlene (Cain) Stinebaugh. He was a lifelong Williamsburg resident. James graduated from Williamsburg High School with the Class of 1969. On June 11, 1972, James was united in marriage to Vickie Adams in Ottawa, Kansas. They were happily married 49 years. James was a hard worker and impacted many people throughout his life. He worked at Iowa Beef, in Emporia, for many years. Later, he worked for the Richmond/Williamsburg Co-Op, followed by Asplundh Tree Expert until his retirement in 2018. While working at the Co-Op and Asplundh, James’ work ethic and dedication shined also as an owner / operator of J & J Greenhouse. Even after retirement, he continued growing and cultivating plants and vegetables that many families across several counties enjoyed in their gardens and on their dinner tables. He was a deacon for and a devout member of the Homewood Community Bible Church. He treasured sharing the love of Jesus to everyone around him. A few of his favorite things to do were talking to everyone about his plants and garden, spending time with family, helping others, and telling jokes. James’ children and grandchildren were the pride of his life. He was preceded in death by his wife, Vickie, and his parents. Survivors include his four children: Gene Stinebaugh (Kristie) of Princeton, Adam Stinebaugh (Mandy) of Ottawa, Kelly Shepherd (John) of Pomona, and John Stinebaugh (Amanda) of Williamsburg; five siblings: Waneta Monthey of Oskaloosa, David Stinebaugh also of Oskaloosa, Linda Marler (Steve) of Rose Hill, Roger Stinebaugh of Kansas City, Missouri, and Andrew Stinebaugh (Jeanette) of Quenemo; mother-in-law Ople Adams; and six grandchildren: Kamryn Stinebaugh, Karlie Stinebaugh, Blake Stinebaugh, Sterling Shepherd, Katelynn Shepherd, and Ross Shepherd. The family suggests memorial contributions to Homewood Community Bible Church c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S. Hickory, Ottawa, Kansas 66067.
