RESIDENCE HISTORY: James lived in Ottawa from 1921 until 1942, Wadsworth and Leavenworth 1945 until 1986, moving to Valley Falls in 1986. EDUCATION: James graduated from Ottawa High School. GOVERNMENT SERVICE: James served from September 26, 1942, until November 23, 1945, in the United States Army, during World War II, attaining the rank of Private and receiving the American Pacific Theater Medal, American Theater Medal, World War II Victory Medal, Phillipine Liberation Ribbon, Bronze Star and Gold Oak Leaf. During his tour of duty, he became a Prisoner of War and was one of the American soldiers forced on the Philippine Bataan Death March. MEMBERSHIPS: James was a member of Bethany Baptist Chapel Church in Ottawa, and American Legion Post #273 of Wichita. SERVICES: Funeral services will be held from Dengel & Son Mortuary in Ottawa at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 22, 2004, with military honors by Fort Riley Honor Guard. OFFICIATING CLERGY: Pastor Elisha U. Verge, Sr., of North Ash Church of Nazarene of Wichita. IN STATE: Mr. McCloria will lie in state at the Dengel & Son Mortuary from 8:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Friday.
