James M. Silvey, 70, of Ottawa, KS passed away at his home Tuesday, May 12, 2020 with his family by his side. Private graveside services will be held at Hope Cemetery, Ottawa. James was born May 4, 1950 in Ottawa, the son of Opene E. (Warren) and Reggie R. Silvey, Sr. He was a lifelong Ottawa resident attending Ottawa High School. James was employed with Santa Fe Railroad as a laborer for many years, Sky Hook as a machinist, and later Sirloin Stockade as a cook. James enjoyed being with his family and taking care of his mom. He was an avid body builder, enjoyed hot rods, and played Dominoes and cards with his friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Reggie Silvey, Sr. and sister, Merida Meeks. Survivors include his mother Opene Silvey of Ottawa; brother, Reggie Silvey, Jr., and wife Sandy of Ottawa; two sons, Tony Moore of Ottawa, and Travis Marmon of Garnett; four grandchildren and one great grandchild. The family suggests memorial contributions to Franklin County Cancer Foundation c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S. Hickory, Ottawa, Kansas 66067.
