James M. Hood

James M. Hood age 71 of Paola, Kansas passed away March 2, at the Life Care Facility in Osawatomie, Kansas. Memorials to the American Kidney Foundation. James was born June 29, 1940 in Kansas City, Kansas to Orville Ray and Neva McManis Hood. He grew up and lived in Paola his entire life graduating from Paola High School in 1958. He attended electronics training in Colorado before enlisting in the United States Army in 1959 where he was a Radar Technician for 9 years before receiving his honorable discharge in 1968. James worked at King Radio which later became the Honeywell Corporation for 35 years before retiring. After retirement he worked for them as an consultant for 6 months, traveling to Germany. He was the primary care giver for his parents for many years. His hobbies were cooking, gardening, listening to short wave radio conversations, target shooting, fishing, enjoyed traveling and white water rafting, spending time with family and friends and was a member of the NRA. He was preceded in death by his parents and nephew Andrew Sanders. Survivors are his brothers Ray Hood of Paola, Michael and wife Brenda Hood of Millington, Tennessee, sister Marguerite and husband Art Sanders of Wichita, Kansas and his close companion Gloria, and many nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed by family and friends.
