James Matthew LeValley, age 84, of Ottawa, Kansas, died Tuesday, August 18, 2009. He was born on Monday, June 15, 1925, in Iola, Kansas. He was the son of George H. and Florence M. (Jones) LeValley. He lived in Ottawa since he was a young man, moving to De Soto, Kansas, and returning to Ottawa in 1954. He worked for Willis Nursery in Ottawa; drove a Manor Bread route; was employed by Baldwin Box Factory; and as a security guard for Hercules Ammunition Plant in De Soto for twenty-nine years, retiring in 1987. James served in the United States Army from April of 1944 to November of 1949. He attended Trinity Methodist Church and First Christian Church, both of Ottawa; was a member of Warren Black Post #60, American Legion, Ottawa; Good Sam’s Camping Club; board member of Ottawa Senior Center and Girls Club of Ottawa; and volunteer for Hope House of Ottawa. In 1944, James was united in marriage with Mary Jane Toumberlin. She preceded him in death in 1956. On May 12, 1972, James was united in marriage with Edith Plummer in Ottawa. She survives of their home. He is survived by: Wife-Edith LeValley of their home; Son-Charles F. LeValley of Olathe, Kansas; Daughter-Bonnie Y. Warren & her husband, Richard, of Branson, Missouri; Daughter-Mary Jean Kitt of Osage City, Kansas; Grandchild-Frank Hopkins; Grandchild-Brian D. Hopkins; Grandchild-Jeannie M. Coehn; Grandchild-Stephanie Herrick; Grandchild-Darin J. Kitt; Five - Gt.Grandchildren SERVICES: Funeral services will be held from the Dengel & Son Mortuary at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 21, 2009. Military Honors by Veterans of Foreign Wars Memorial Post #5901, Ottawa. IN STATE: Friends may pay their respects to Mr. LeValley at the Dengel & Son Mortuary after 9:00 a.m. Thursday to the service hour, where the family will meet with friends from 7:00 to 8:00 Thursday evening. CEMETERY: De Soto Cemetery in De Soto, Kansas. MEMORIALS: The family suggests memorial contributions to Midland Hospice or Franklin County Cancer Foundation, c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S.
