James Lee "Jimmy" Steele

James “Jimmy” Steele, 57, of Ottawa, Kansas, passed away Tuesday, March 29, 2022. Cremation is planned with a Celebration of Life to be held at 2:30 P.M., Sunday, April 3, 2022, at South Beach Cove, 1608 S. Main Street, Ottawa. Jimmy was born July 17, 1964, at Ottawa, the son of Richard and Ethel (Spalding) Steele. He lived in Centropolis, moving in 2007 to Ottawa. He graduated from Ottawa High School. Jimmy was a former member of the Aerie Lodge 2700, Fraternal Order of Eagles of Ottawa. He enjoyed sports, watching KU Basketball, KC Chiefs, NASCAR, and KC Royals, and playing video games. His favorite hangout was the South Beach Cove where he enjoyed dancing and socializing with everyone. He is preceded in death by his father, Richard Steele. Survivors include his mother, Ethel Steele of Centropolis; two siblings, Jeff (Angelina) Steele of Allen, Texas, and Mandy Steele of Houston, Texas; two nieces, Andrea (James) Warden of Allen, Texas, and Sydney (Ali) Ismail also of Dallas, Texas; great-niece, Rylee Warden and great-nephew, Raylen Warden. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions to Friends of COF.
