James Lee “Jim” Droddy, 58, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, formerly of Ottawa, passed away Tuesday, October 16, 2018. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Friday, October 26, 2018, at the First Christian Church, 1045 S. Hickory, Ottawa. Family will meet with friends from 6:30 P.M. to 7:30 P.M., Thursday, October 25th, at the church. Interment Highland Cemetery, Ottawa. Jim was born August 7, 1960, in Topeka, Kansas, to Carrol and Imogene (Smith) Droddy. He graduated from Ottawa High School with the class of 1978. He then started his college career at Allen County Community College in Iola, Kansas, where he received an Associate of Science. There he was a member of the livestock judging team and active in rodeo. After Allen County he attended Kansas State University where he received his Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Education. After graduation, Jim moved to Jewell, Kansas, where he was an Agriculture Education teacher and FFA advisor with Jewell High School until the mid-1980s. Jim was united in marriage to Shannon Hall December 28, 1984, in Mankato, Kansas. They later divorced. Together they had four children who Jim loved dearly. In 1990, Jim moved back to Ottawa where he worked for Ottawa Coop in the feed department before its closure in 1996. He then worked for Franklin County Noxious Weed Department for several years. He had a love for agriculture and helping people. He loved riding horses, hunting and fishing, trap shooting, pitching horseshoes, and loved to dance. He was also a very talented woodworker. He was a member of the First Christian Church, the Ottawa Masonic Lodge No. 18 A.F. & A.M. (Ancient Free & Accepted Masons), and the K-State Alumni Association. He was preceded in death by sister, Lexie Droddy Mason. Survivors include children, Gail Droddy of Ottawa; Dane Droddy and wife Brooke of Richmond; Shelby Droddy of Overland Park; and Casey Droddy also of Overland Park. Parents, Carrol and Imogene Droddy of Ottawa; and three grandchildren, Hagen, Carsen and Korben Droddy all of Richmond. Niece, Cathleen Van Leiden and husband Dustin of Ottawa; nephews, Cody Mason of Ottawa, Austen Mason also of Ottawa, and Grant Mason and wife Desta of Waverly.
