James L. Slankard

James L. 'Jim' Slankard, 71 ,of Pomona, Kansas died on Monday, July 10, 2006 at his residence in Pomona, Kansas. He was born on Tuesday, March 5, 1935, in Ottawa, Kansas, the son of Clarence Slankard and Opal (Decker) Slankard. Jim grew up in Franklin County, moving in 1960 to Houston, Texas, returning in 1975. He lived the rest of his life in Franklin County with the exception of his years in the military. Jim graduated from Pomona High School with the class of 1952. Jim worked as a welder most of his life and also owned and operated the 700 Club in Pomona. Jim served from November 8, 1956 until October 31, 1962 in the United Stated Army, attaining the rank of Private First Class. On May 9, 1958, Jim was united in marriage with Sandra Lou 'Sandy' Holman at San Antonio, Texas. Survivors include: Wife-Sandra Lou
