James Knowles Peckham

December 13, 1918 — April 4, 2006

Jim was a lifelong resident of Rantoul, Kansas. He graduated from Rantoul High School with the class of 1936 and went on to two years of college, attending Baker University in Baldwin, Kansas and Ottawa University in Ottawa, Kansas. Jim was a farmer. He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church, serving on various committees over the years, past school board member for Pleasant Ridge Country School, Rantoul High School and Wellsville High School. He helped organize Rural Water District # 6, served on the Franklin County Planning Commission and was a life member of the Ottawa Promenaders Square Dance Club. On December 22, 1944, Jim was united in marriage with Irene Northway at Mound City, Kansas. She survives of their home. SERVICES: Funeral services will be held from the Dengel & Son Mortuary 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 7, 2006. IN STATE: Friends may pay their respects to Mr. Peckham after 9:00 a.m. Thursday at Dengel & Son Mortuary to service hour, where the family will meet with friends 5 to 6:30 Thursday evening. CEMETERY: Highland Cemetery in Ottawa, Kansas. MEMORIALS: The family suggests memorials to Midland Hospice, c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary 235 S. Hickory in Ottawa, Kansas 66067.
