James Lewayne “J.W.” Mietchen, 37, of Quenemo, Kansas, formerly of Ottawa, passed away Saturday, March 19, 2016, in Franklin County. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, March 26, 2016, at Community Foursquare Church, 119 E. 9th, Ottawa. Family will meet with friends immediately following the service. James was born Tuesday, March 21, 1978, in Ottawa, Kansas, the son of James Lee and Deborah Lynn (Damron) Mietchen. He was a near lifelong Ottawa resident, moving three months ago to Quenemo. J.W. earned a certificate for an auto body technician. Survivors include his parents, James and Deborah Mietchen of Baldwin City; three children, Dakota, Zaden, and Kiffany Mietchen of Quenemo; fiancé, Sandena Mietchen of Ottawa; brother, Justin Mietchen of Paola; maternal grandmother, Etta Skiles Schnider of Ottawa; and nephew, Corey Mietchen of Ottawa. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Wayne Damron; and paternal grandparents, Andrew and Bobie Mietchen. J.W. was a CNA for 12 years for Ottawa Retirement Village and other area care facilities. He was currently employed as a laborer for Ottawa RV. He was of the Christian faith. He enjoyed spending time with his children, playing his guitar, and grilling. The family suggests memorial contributions to James Mietchen Memorial Fund c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S.
