James G. Clark, 78, of Ottawa, passed away Monday, November 6, 2017. Cremation is planned. A memorial mass will be held at 10:00 A.M., Friday, November 10, 2017, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Inurnment Saint Mary’s Cemetery, Winfield, Kansas, to be held at a later date. James was born Thursday, June 22, 1939, in Avoca, New York. He was the son of William and Anna (Cowell) Clark and the oldest of 15 children. He grew up in New York moving to Ottawa when he married Jessie. James served in the United States Army and the National Guard. James was united in marriage to Jessie Llamas at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Ottawa. She survives of the home. Other survivors include his two children, Colleen Cyr of Port Crane, New York and Gae Smith of Ottawa; ten siblings; nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Thomas Clark; parents, William and Anna Clark; two brothers; and two sisters. James was employed in De Soto and installed dampers and louvers to industrial buildings. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church; Ottawa Lodge 803, Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks; Veterans of Foreign Wars Memorial Post 5901; and Great Life Country Club Golf Course. James enjoyed golf, reading and watching TV. Most of all, he loved his family and the time they spent together.
