James Charles Frye left his earthly life on April 21st at St. Luke’s South Medical Center, Overland Park, Kansas a result of the debilitating disease PSP (Progressive Supra-nuclear Palsy). James was born December 16, 1956 to Robert G and Twila J (Sims) Frye in Paola, Kansas. He attended the First Lutheran grade school and graduated from Paola High School in 1975. James worked at a variety of businesses in Paola in his early years, among them Sutherland Grocery, Buy-Rite Grocery and Taylor Forge. He later embarked on a career as a welder fabricator on heavy equipment and was employed at RO Corporation in Olathe and later Royal Tractor in Gardner. An avid outdoorsman, James was happiest and most at peace with a fishing pole in his hand or out hunting. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, sharing with them his garden harvest, the bounty of his hunting and fishing, and mostly good times and great stories. Those memories are true treasures. He was preceded in death by his parents Bob and Twila, grandparents Charles and Pearl (Hollinger) Sims, and Robert and Clara (Zebert) Frye. Survivors include his sister Kynda Harshman (Bruce), daughter Heather Scheffer (Jason), son Brandon and Aunt Barbara Courtney; two grandsons, numerous cousins and a multitude of friends whose lives he touched with acts of kindness and caring. The family suggests you do an act of kindness in his name. Memorial donations will be sent to the PSP Research at KU Medical Center. Family and friends are encouraged to post their condolences and memories on James' Tribute Wall at www.dengelmortuary.com.
