James “Bud” Elwin Cameron, age 73, of Melvern, Kansas passed June 20, 2024 at his residence, with his family by his side. Bud was born July 2, 1950 in Moody, Missouri to William E. Cameron and Deloris “Jinks” Williams (Morrison) (Cameron). He graduated in 1968 from West Plains High School. A few years later he met Jeanine Horne and they were married October 5, 1973. Bud and Jeanine went on to have two sons, Jason and Nathan.
Bud enjoyed fishing and hunting. He also loved farming with his father-in-law. But mostly, Bud enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He would attend all of their school functions and also their sporting games. You would often see Bud on the side lines of those games – giving his ‘two cents’ about a particular play of the game.
Bud was a welder by trade. He managed many service stations for M.R. Hudson over the years. He was also an owner/operator of six H&R Block locations. He retired in the early 2000’s from Ottawa Truck.
Bud is preceded in death by his parents William and Deloris, brother Wayman E. Cameron, Brother-in-Law Noble Willbanks and nephew Cameron Willbanks.
Bud is survived by his wife Jeanine Cameron of the home; sons Jason (Angie) Cameron and Nathan (Dawn) Cameron; Sisters: Shirley Tupper (Allen), Jean Willbanks, Jenny Hand (Doug), and Kathy Scott (Jim); grandchildren: Katie Cameron, Emma Cameron, Bailey Cameron, Tanner Johnson, Lane Johnson, and Gracie Cameron; great-grandson: Willie Johnson.
