James A Martin, age 88, resident of the Louisburg area since 2006 passed away peacefully on Wednesday morning November 24, 2010 at St Joseph's Hospital after a brief stay. The funeral mass will be Monday, November 29, 2010, 10:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church Louisburg, KS. Burial to follow in White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Wichita, KS. Visitation will be Sunday afternoon, November 28, 2010 from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. with the Rosary being recited at 3:00 p.m. at the Penwell-Gabel Louisburg Chapel. James was born April 2, 1922 in Wichita KS, having lived there for most of his life except for service to our nation in the US Navy during World War II and employment with the US Army Corps of Engineers from 1963 - 1984 in Kansas City MO. His last fours years were spent living with his eldest son Michael and daughter in law Dee in rural Louisburg KS. His passion for most of this adult life was the time spent with friends and family along with his love of his Catholic faith and the Knights of Columbus. James was preceded in death by his loving wife Marcella (Harbert), parents Frank and Anna (Murphy) Martin, brother, Francis R (Raymond), son John and infant daughter Barbara. Survivors include his son Michael Martin and daughter in law Dee; older sister E. Regina Martin of the home and younger brother Robert Martin CSSR of Bangkok Thailand; 6 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
