James A. Jim Ferguson, age 79 of Ottawa, Kansas, died Saturday, February 16, 2013 at his residence in Ottawa. He was born on Wednesday, June 7, 1933 in Chapman, Kansas, the son of George E. and Ella (Fiest) Ferguson. He grew up in Chapman, Kansas, lived in Eudora, Kansas from1953 until moving to Ottawa in 1960. Jim graduated from Ottawa High School with the class of 1952. Jim worked at the Weidner Service Station until 1953, when he moved to Eudora, Kansas to farm his sister’s acreage, and they moved to their farm on Rock Creek Road in 1960. He worked at the Chevy dealership in Eudora, Kansas and in the 1960’s helped the contractors that were installing rural water for Rural Water District #2 and worked for the RWD from 1984 until early 2012. He served thirteen years in the Army National Guard. Jim was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Ottawa, and served on the Zoning Board of Appeals. On June 11, 1955, James was united in marriage with Donna Lea Barber in Ottawa. She survives of their home. He is survived by his: Son - James L. Ferguson of Ottawa, Kansas Son - Joseph Ferguson and his wife, Debbie of Ottawa, Kansas Son - Jerald Ferguson of Ottawa, Kansas Daughter - Diane Lines and her husband, Randy of Lincoln, Missouri Twin sister – Mary Ann Neiswander of Topeka, Kansas Eleven grandchildren – Shane, Mark, Kimberly, Christopher, Nathan, George Robert, Neal, Nicole, James P., Sherry, and Nicholas Fourteen great-grandchildren Many nieces and nephews Cousin – Wayne Thorpe of Fort Scott, He is preceded in death by his: Parents – George and Ella Ferguson Five brothers – Ralph, Edward, Bernard, George and Robert Ferguson Two sisters – Lillian Speicher and Grace Piersol SERVICES: A Funeral Mass will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Ottawa, Kansas 10:00 A.M. Saturday, February 23, 2013. IN STATE: Friends may pay their respects to Mr. Ferguson at Dengel & Son Mortuary from 4:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. Thursday and 9:00 A.M. to 9:00 P.M. Friday, where a rosary will be said at 6:30 P.M. Friday followed by a family visitation from 7:00 to 8:00 P.M. CEMETERY: Interment Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Ottawa, Kansas, with military honors by Kansas National Guard.
